DETAILED plans for a housing development in Fernhill Heath were given the go-ahead by Wychavon planners.

Outline planning permission for the 120-home development by Taylor Wimpey on land off Dilmore Lane was granted in October 2015.

The 'reserved matters' application, dealing with the proposed layout and appearance, went before Wychavon District Council's planning committee at its latest meeting, held on March 3.

During the public speaking section Robert Hollis, a resident living on the boundary, said the reserved matters application was nothing like the original outline permission approved five months ago, as he had seen the number of houses on the boundary increase.

Jane Smith, from the developers, spoke and defended the application, saying it was in accordance with the South Worcestershire Development Plan, and officers had approved the scheme.

She added house designs for the development were based on house types that can be found around Droitwich.

But during the councillors' discussions, Councillor Tony Miller said he thought Taylor Wimpey should go away and come back with a better design that fits the location in a more sympathetic manner.

He called on committee members to use their power - as their teeth are sharp - to defer the application.

But Chairman of the committee, Paul Middlebrough, said he felt it was unclear what the reasons would be for deferral.

He added that if the plans were altered to please one resident, if would only lead to another complaining.

A motion was put forward to defer, but this was rejected by councillors, by a majority of nine votes.

The application was then approved, passed on a majority vote of 10-3.
