IF YOU have children of a certain age there is something you cannot escape - Lego.

It is everywhere, quite literally in our house where stray bricks can cause crippling pain to bare feet, and both my son and daughter are big fans.

So, it will come as no surprise that when the Lego Movie was released in February 2014 it was a big deal in our house.

We bought tickets to the advanced viewing, have lots of the merchandise, and two years on you will still hear the film's theme song Everything Is Awesome playing from my son's bedroom.

What better way to while away the time before the anxiously awaited sequel is released in 2018 than a trip to Legoland Discovery Centre in Manchester for Lego Movie 4D A New Adventure.

It has reunited Emmet, Wyldstyle, Unikitty, Benny and MetalBeard and gives fans the chance to immerse themselves in an entirely new plot which sees our favourites receive a mysterious invite to a new theme park which bears an uncanny resemblance to Legoland.

No Lord Business this time, but instead it is Risky Business who is scheming to trap the gang with his special theme park attractions including Unikitty’s cute and colourful Wainbow Wubble World and Wyldstyle’s Super Cycle Mega Ride.

With the help of the audience, our heroes must try and save the day.

It is a great addition to the franchise - some genuinely laugh out loud moments and the children loved shouting along when their favourites seemed to leap off the screens.

My favourite line came courtesy of Risky Business who makes reference to why Lord Business, voiced in the original film by Will Ferrell, was not appearing in the 4D version.

I won't spoil it.

Afterwards, it was good to explore the Discovery Centre.

A two and a bit hour drive from Worcester to Manchester means it isn't inconceivable to do it all in one day but we took the chance to make a weekend of it.

I wanted to resist the urge to use 'everything was awesome' in the review but it was really rather good, a must for any Lego-lover out there - and there must be a few young and old.
