A St John's nursery hosted a day of celebrations to celebrate a landmark milestone.

Hawthorn Cottage Nursery invited parents and children to a day of activities to honour its 30th year in operation.

It held an open morning and charity raffle to celebrate its birthday and organised a tea party in the nursery’s gardens complete with balloons, banners and craft activities.

Naomi Stanfield, deputy manager, said: "We are really happy and everyone feels really proud that we have been open for so long.

"The nursery has been kept very much the same as it always was – it is still a very close-knit family environment and the same morals as before.

"A lot of people who come here say they have heard that Hawthorn Cottage Nursery is a really good nursery and a friend has recommended it to them.

"We just have a really nice family feel here."

Cash raised from the raffle will be given to Worcester charity ‘New Hope’ which supports children and families with disabilities and complex healthcare needs and all raffle prizes were donated by Worcester businesses.

The nursery was opened in 1986 by a lady known as Mrs Tildsley and is run from a converted parish hall.
