A MAN who was thrown out of a Worcester nightclub and had to be restrained by police has been fined after admitting being drunk and disorderly.

Lewis Yardley, 20, of Burrish Street, Droitwich, admitted being drunk and disorderly in a public place and obstructing a constable in the execution of his duty when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court.

Prosecutor Adrian Jones said Yardley first came to the attention of police on the evening of Saturday, March 5, when he was in the city centre and warned about his behaviour by officers.

But he was later ejected from Bushwackers nightclub, in Trinity Street, in and was shouting, swearing and very animated, Mr Jones said.

He went to The Cross, where officers told him to calm down and go home, but he ran off back to Bushwackers and “continued with his behaviour”.

Officers, including PC Seewoosaha, then attempted to arrest Yardley, but he had to be restrained to the floor.

Yardley, an administrator who defended himself, explained he had become aggressive after being injured when he had tried to break up a fight that involved his friend.

“I am not normally like that,” Yardley said.

During sentencing, Yardley was told by magistrates that they could see events in the nightclub and his drinking had caused him to commit the offences, and accepted he had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.

Yardley was fined £185 for the obstruction charge, and £50 for being drunk and disorderly.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20, and court costs of £135 – a total of £390.
