AFTER nearly three years of work and millions of pounds the regeneration of Worcester's Dines Green is now complete.

The ambitious face-lift officially came to an end on Friday, a day that was celebrated by residents of the estate and all involved in the drastic build.

The £8million pound project means Dines Green now boasts 61 brand new homes, parking provisions and new shops.

These include a Post Office and a new Chinese take-away.

Existing shops were also given a face-lift, as was the area's St Michael's Church which was rebuilt on Gresham Road with new facilities. The old church made way for housing.

MP for Worcester Robin Walker, who visited the estate during its build a number of times and attended the celebrations on Friday, said: "Alongside the delivery of much needed affordable homes this regeneration has delivered smart new facilities, shopfronts and even a new church for the community.

"I am delighted to see such a positive approach meeting the needs that residents have set out and delivering for the community in Dines Green."

As well as the official opening there was family entertainment including a bouncy castle, face painting and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Mayor of Worcester, councillor Roger Knight, also attended.

Guy Weston, Chief Executive of Fortis Living which was behind the build, said: "The regeneration of Dines Green is a good example of how Fortis Living invests in communities.

"By improving homes and surrounding areas we are building a better future for our tenants."
