A WORCESTER nine-year-old is enjoying a dramatic new style after donating 11 inches of her hair to a charity which makes wigs for children with cancer.

Sophie Kent, from Grange Avenue in Claines, had her hair cut at Avant Garde Hair Salon in Worcester on Saturday.

She has also raised more than £550 for the Little Princess Trust, a national charity which provides real hair wigs for youngsters who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

Mum Amy Kent, who went to support Sophie on the day with her dad and sister, said: "She was very confident abut having it done an never considered backing out.

"The hair will be posted off first thing on Tuesday and we are immensely proud of her."

The Northwick Manor Primary School pupil had set her sights on raising at least £350 - the amount it costs to make each wig. And she has donated her own pocket money to the cause too.
