A SUCCESSFUL street collection for a campaign to save Britain's bees has been held in Bewdley.
Wyre Forest Friends of the Earth (FOE) held the street and stall collection in Bewdley earlier this month.
It managed to raise £94, and dozens of people also took booklets and leaflets about how they can help protect bees.
Wyre Forest FOE co-ordinator, Phil Oliver, said: "We received tremendous sympathy and generosity from people in Bewdley.
"Everyone loves bees and there is great concern that they are dying out.
"In recent years Britain has lost over half the honey bees kept in managed hives and wild honey bees are nearly extinct.
"FOE succeeded in persuading the government to bring in a plan to save British bees, but this is nowhere near as strong as we would like.
"Ordinary people can play their part by not using pesticides and by growing bee-friendly plants in their gardens."
