THE Great Malvern Food Festival is just around the corner and organisers getting ready to cook up a storm for visitors to the town centre.

Taking place on Bank Holiday Monday, May 30, the free event has a whole host of treats in store for adults and children.

The event, at the Priory churchyard from 10am to 5.30pm, will celebrate the wide range of high-quality food and drink produced in and around Malvern.

Among the treats on offer will be home-made fudge, handmade scotch eggs, falafels, gourmet hot dogs, bhajis, Caribbean food and much more.

Highlights will include a cookery demonstration stage that will be offering visitors the chance to discover great recipes from local chefs, including Jason Lynas from Terrace On The Hill, who has worked with star chefs such as Raymond Blanc.

Pam Chen Moore will be teaching how to create wholesome oriental food from scratch, and Lizzy Hughes, who runs her own vegetarian cookery school, will also be demonstrating some mouth-watering recipes.

The event also caters for children with entertainment and activities including a bushcraft cookery workshop, biscuit decorating, food-related puzzles, and lots more.

The Bank Holiday weekend will also include a vintage and retro fair on Saturday,between 10am and 4pm along Abbey Road, with an eclectic mix of vintage antique and modern furniture, jewellery, collectables, clothes and objets d’art.

The Malvern Munch food walk on Sunday is a seven-mile walk over the Malvern Hills with local food, drink and live music stops along the way. Tickets cost £20 which includes all food and drink and can be purchased from Malvern Hills Tourist Information Centre.

Simon Smith, economic development manager of Malvern Hills District Council said: “The festival is now in its sixth year and always attracts thousands of visitors, we are really looking forward to seeing the town buzzing with people having fun and enjoying everything that the food festival has to offer.”
