THE winners of Pershore Carnival's window dressing competition have been announced.

A host of Pershore businesses entered the Circus of the World-themed contest ahead of this Monday's carnival extravaganza.

In first place was Acorns Children's Hospice shop, followed by Upper Crust Bakery in second place and TC Fireplaces in third position.

Jill Hampton, carnival secretary, said: "We had some fantastic entries including The Salon which featured a live clown in the window.

"The decorated shops have certainly brightened up the High Street and if this is a glimpse of things to come, I think Pershore is in for a very colourful treat on Monday!"

Pershore Carnival organisers are currently busy putting final preparations in place for the Bank Holiday festivities.

Revellers will flock to the town to enjoy Circus of the World-themed celebrations, including a colourful parade from 12.30pm.

The fun will continue throughout the afternoon, with attractions including a circus skills workshop, ferret racing, inflatables, dog show, pony rides, swing boats and a farmer’s market set to entertain in Abbey Park.

A small firework display and concert will take place at the band stand in Abbey Park on Monday evening, thanks to donations from Pershore businesses.

The first act to appear is Pershore Brass Band at 5.30pm and an eclectic mix will follow until around10pm.

Among the bands performing are Purple Shade, Sandra Mason, Gordon Dean, Griff and Emily Phillips.

Carnival programmes will be available on the day, but for more information visit Pershore Carnival's Facebook page, or follow it on Twitter @Perscarnival

And there is still time to enter the procession, but those wishing to take part must return their entry forms as soon as possible.
