A CAREER as a Premier League footballer may well be on the minds of young soccer stars from St Andrew's School, in Hampton, after being handed the chance to run out at The Hawthorns.
A group of Year 3 pupils had been invited to take part in a football event on the hallowed turf of West Bromwich Albion Football Club.
The invitation had come from The Albion Foundation, which works in partnership with the football club to use the medium of the game and the kudos of the club to provide sporting and educational opportunities.
Despite the huge arena, the children overcame their awe quickly and enjoyed the tournament. They played several matches and came out on top in two of them. They were also wearing their football kit which was sponsored by Evesham Truck Show.
Richard Morley, acting deputy head of St Andrew’s said: “I am so proud of the boys. It was a nervy and challenging occasion for them to be playing in such a fantastic venue. They showed incredible spirit; they were so determined to succeed and they just went for it, demonstrating all of the school’s values along the way.”
