WORCESTERSHIRE Rock Choir gave a spectacular performance on Worcester's Sabrina Bridge.

For BBC Music Day, the 180-strong community choir took part in the nationwide event - Take it to the Bridge - that saw music performed on 40 bridges across the UK on Friday, (June 3).

Such was the weight of the choir, and as they sway when performing, structural engineers felt it was best to position the choir members on the ramp up to the footbridge, and in front of the bridge on the grass in Hylton Road.

Among the songs performed for the crowds that gathered to watch were Jess Glynne's Hold my Hand, and George Ezra's Budapest, and the choir also performed live on BBC Hereford and Worcester radio and on Midlands Today's lunchtime bulletin.

Helen Jones, the leader of the Worcestershire choir who conducted the singing, said members of choirs across the Midlands had came along for the event to join in the singing.

"We have people here today from Cheltenham, Bristol and Bath, and members of Rock Choirs from Birmingham, Redditch, Bromsgrove, Kidderminster and Stourbridge," she said.

"Rock Choir has 24,000 members across the country, who all love taking part.

"Today has been a great success, it was great to be asked to take part."
