THE people of Malvern will be able to thank the personnel of the army, navy and air force at this year's Armed Forces Day in Malvern Link on Saturday.

Eyes will be turned to the sky for two aerial stunt displays above the day's venue at Victoria Park, and one of the highlights will be a flypast by the Hawker Hurricane of the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, returning after its appearances at Mappfest last weekend.

From noon until 6pm, the gala will feature parades, displays and demonstrations from all of Malvern’s cadet groups, including displays by the Maritime Cadets’ field gun team.

Ex-service associations and veteran’s groups will also be there, covering the full history of the armed forces’ service for the past century, including the Somme campaign in 1916 and the development of radar in Malvern during World War Two.

There will be displays of military equipment, uniformed re-enactors, a World War One cavalry recruitment stand, displays on Malvern’s military and defence history, plus several bands, including the Band of the Adjutant-General's Corps.

There will also be a wide range of things to do and see including a climbing wall, face-painting, and children’s rides, plus food and drink to enjoy.
