STAFF and students at South Worcestershire College have celebrated student success at a Student Award Ceremony.

The guest speaker for the evening was Carl Arntzen, CEO of Bosch Thermotechnology Ltd.

Students were recognised for their level of achievement, the amount of progression during the year, or their resilience in the face of difficult circumstances.

Awards were presented to students who had excelled in their own subjects areas, before the main student of the year awards were given.

Jack Whitton, a Level 3 Land Based Engineering Apprentice, employed by F N Pile and Sons, was recognised for his professional attitude, his enthusiasm for the business, and his customer service skills, and was presented with the 2016 Apprentice of the Year award.

Valeria Barone, a Level 3 Beauty Therapy student who has come from her home country of Italy to study at South Worcestershire College, was the recipient of The Principal’s Award, in recognition of her overall commitment to her success in her chosen industry.

The Tim Malin Award for Entrepreneurship went to Megan Butterfield, a Level 3 Graphic Design with Photography student who has been working with small local businesses.

The 2016 Student of the Year Award was presented to Ysabella Tustin, a Level 3 Accountancy student who has taken various personal obstacles in her stride and shown real determination to succeed on her course.

Other top awards went to Aiden Johns, Level 1 Construction student and current pupil of the DeMontfort School, who became the 2016 Young Student of the Year, and Jed Boughton, Level 3 Motor Vehicle Student who became the 2016 Return to Learn Student of the Year.
