A KIND-HEARTED Kempsey boy has raised hundreds of pounds for charity just by having his head shaved.

Lewis Carey, aged 11, took part in Macmillan Cancer Support's fundraising 'Brave the Shave' project, after his grandmother Irene Hoult battled the disease.

Thankfully, his grandmother survived her ordeal with breast cancer, but it inspired Lewis to raise nearly £800 for the national charity.

Mum Lisa Carey, aged 35, said: "He heard on the radio about this Brave the Shave and ask me if he could do it. He wanted to do it in respect for his nan and to raise money for cancer research.

"I'm just beaming with pride to be honest. I think it is such a wonderful thing for a little brain to think about doing it.

"He just makes me beam with pride, he really does. He has always been such a kind, thoughtful child. He looks lovely, he looks like my little baby again."

The Powick Primary School pupil had his head shaved by his dad at Clip Joint in Worcester on Saturday, July 2.

And Lewis is still collecting donations at bravetheshave.org.uk/shavers/lewis-carey/

Nationwide, people taking part in Brave the Shave have raised a whopping £747,787.33 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
