THOUSANDS of people are expected to flock to the Chateau Impney Hill Climb in Droitwich this weekend.

With 10,000 people attending the first Hill Climb in 2015, this year's event is set to be even more action-packed.

Spectators can watch 200 pre-1967 cars and competitors from across the world attempt to tackle the challenging course in a bid to claim the fastest time on the day.

Local racer Jack Woodhouse, who set the inaugural record at the Chateau Impney Hill Climb last year, will return for the 2016 event to reclaim the title.

And a Droitwich man, who triumphed in the final Chateau Impney sprint in 1967 as a teenager but never had his win recorded properly, is on a mission to claim his rightful place in the Chateau Impney record books almost 50 years on.

As well as all the on-track action, there will be lots of attractions for families including a free vintage funfair, face painting and children’s entertainers.

A host of unusual cars will take part in the race, including the steam-powered Whistling Billy, built in 1905, and the flame-spitting Fiat S76, better known as the Beast of Turin.

Guests can also bid for a vintage vehicle at the H&H classic car auction on the Sunday, and registration is open on the day.

The Chateau Impney will take place between Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10.
