THE Bromsgrove branch of the Labour Party has elected district councillor Dr Michael Thompson as its new chairman.
He replaces long serving chairman Tom Stanley, who stepped down earlier this month.
Dr Thompson also works as the deputy leader of the Labour opposition on Bromsgrove District Council where he has represented the Rock Hill ward since 2015.
He said: "As well as supporting local campaigns, the local party has a responsibility to its members and supporters to challenge the national government and, in particular, the actions of its local MP.
"We also reflect the cross section of Bromsgrove and represent people of all backgrounds drawn together by the same values."
