BROMSGROVE MP Sajid Javid has been named as the new Communities Secretary in Theresa May’s cabinet.
He will now be responsible for the overall strategic direction of the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG), taking over from Greg Clark who was appointed to the role last year, following the election.
Mr Javid was previously Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills.
Stephen Crabb, who had mounted a campaign for leadership, naming Mr Javid as his future Chancellor, has resigned from the Cabinet saying the decision was "in the best interests of [his] family".
Greg Clarke is now the new Business, Energy and Industrial strategy Secretary, effectively swapping roles within the Cabinet with Mr Javid.
