DETAILS have been released for the funeral of Bromsgrove Sporting chairman John Prescott, who passed away suddenly last Tuesday.

The funeral will be taking place next Monday, July 25 at midday, with a funeral cortege leaving the Victoria Ground on Birmingham Road beforehand to go to the Wyre Forest Crematorium and Cemetery in Stourport-on-Severn.

There will also be a coach leaving the Victoria Ground and following the cortege, which people are welcome to book a seat on.

Mr Prescott, who passed away at the age of 68 last week, had taken over as chairman of the club at the start of last season. Previously he had also been groundsman, and a founder member of Bromsgrove Sporting, and had worked as a director at Worcester City Football Club from 1994 to 2009.

John’s family are asking for donations in lieu of flowers to be given to local charity Libby Mae’s Little Angels, which supports the necessary medical equipment needed to look after babies on neonatal units across the Midlands. They can be made online at gofundme.com/2eau9q2k or by a cheque, made payable to ‘Libby Mae’s Little Angels’ with ‘John Prescott’ written on the back, which should be sent to James Giles & Son funeral directors, up to eight weeks after the funeral.

The family has also asked if directors and officials from any football clubs and leagues, could kindly wear their club or league ties to add a bit of colour to proceedings.

After the service there will be a wake, held at the Rousler Bar at the Bromsgrove Sporting ground in Bromsgrove.

If anyone would like to book a seat on the coach following the funeral cortege, they should contact Ann Clissett on 07415 923555 to reserve a place.
