TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of carrying out a burglary at the Regal Cinema in Evesham.
The suspects were arrested this morning by officers from West Mercia Police and remain in custody at Worcester Police Station as investigations continue.
We reported how hooded raiders smashed down the doors of the Port Street cinema known for its art deco style and stole money from collection boxes in the early hours of Monday morning, a raid which was captured on CCTV.
The doors dated back to 1932 and the money was donated by cinema patrons to help fund a £600,000 extension. Staff at the cinema said in a statement they were ‘saddened’ by the burglary.
Police are still appealing for more information and for witnesses to come forward. Anyone who saw anything suspicious can contact West Mercia Police on 101, quoting 56s/250716.
