CREATIVE youngsters will be able to show their skills in various styles during summer holiday workshops.

Worcester Arts Workshop and Dancefest have joined forces for three packed days of creative activities for children and young people, all with the theme Wonders of the Ocean.

The workshops, being held on August 22 through to August 24, will be held in the style of visual arts, dance, oil and painting.

All take place at Worcester Arts Workshop's home, in Sansome Street.

Worcester Arts Workshop tutor Kay Mullet will be running visual arts workshop for children and young people exploring the theme in drawing, painting and ceramics.

Sessions for five to 12-year-olds take place each day between 11.15am and 12.30pm. Sessions for the 12 plus age group are held between 1pm and 2.30pm.

Each session costs £7, any additional sibling cost £5.

Dancefest will be running interactive and fun dance classes each day for a variety of ages, exploring movement sequences, and exploring a different idea each day.

Sessions for five to seven-year-olds are held between 10am and 11am, costing £5. Sessions for eight to 11-year-olds run between 1.30pm and 2.30pm, also costing £5.

Between 11.15am and 12.30pm, there are sessions for the 12 plus group, costing £6.25.

Additional siblings receive a discount of £1.50.

On Thursday, August 25, between 10am and 3pm, tutor Andrew Clacher, will be sharing his knowledge and expertise with young people, aged 11 to 16-years-old, in a one off oil painting workshop.

Youngsters will be able to learn how to paint an amazing portrait with oil paints, prepare a stretched canvas, and have fun painting a self portrait.

The workshop costs £25, including all materials.

Gargoyle and Grotesque workshops run from 10am to 4pm on August 19 and 26.

The workshops, with artist Chris Russell, introduce techniques to make your own grotesque, inspired by medieval carvings - including those from Worcester Cathedral.

The workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some ceramic experience.

This workshop takes place at Worcester Cathedral, with participants asked to meet at the main entrance at 10am. Tickets cost £55 and include all materials, and lunch at Café Bliss.

On Saturday, August 27, Worcester Arts Workshop holds an open day at its home.

Visitors will be able to see what goes on at the arts hub, between 10am and 4pm, as well as youth workshops from Vamos Theatre and CAGED Arts, and a preview of new courses starting in September.
