THE Worcestershire County Museum at Hartlebury Castle will be running an inexpensive calendar of fun for the whole family the summer.

As part of their 'Summer Skool' event, youngsters can visit the museum to learn how to be different characters through fun 'teacher' led sessions, hands-on craft activities and themed trails - with every week being different.

Organisers are also encouraging children to come along in fancy dress.

Every week for five weeks, between August 2 and September 1, children can join in activities with themes including learning to be a pirate, a king or queen, Robin Hood, a mad scientist, or a knight or princess.

Activities will take place every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, between 10.30am and 4pm.

The activity days will cost £2 per child for the whole day after the normal admission fee. For an extra £1 on the Robin Hood themed days, children will be able to try their hand at archery too.

In the last week of August, as well as their usual activities, the museum will be hosting a big bank holiday family event - 'Knights and Princesses' - where children will be able to make a sword, design a crown and learn to duel.

Pippa Ashmore, museum events manager, said: "School holidays can seem endless and it can start getting really expensive keeping the kids entertained by a visit to the County Museum is affordable fun for the whole family.

"Throughout the summer each week has a different theme, so families can visit more than once and be assured of finding new activities to delight and inspire them, as well as learning something new.

"In between activities there is 1,000 years of history to explore in the museum, or you can take advantage of our excellent cafe facilities or bring your own picnic lunch to enjoy in our fabulous grounds."
