DANNY Jackman has received the support of Worcester News readers to retain the captaincy at Worcester City.
In an online poll, Jackman achieved 52 per cent of the vote ahead of Graham Hutchison, who skippered City against Romulus on Wednesday, with 27 per cent.
Ex-Brackley Town captain Tom Sharpe (nine per cent) was third choice, while former Premier League striker Lee Hughes (six) was fourth and experienced midfielder Junior English (five) was fifth.
Speaking to manager Carl Heeley last week, he said he had yet to “fully discuss” who would be handed the captain’s armband for the upcoming Vanarama National League North campaign.
However, he admitted there were “a number of characters in the changing room that have got captain material”.
Worcester-born Jackman led the team out during the second half of the last campaign, but the 33-year-old has found himself starting on the bench for much of pre-season.
