THE historic city has its fair share of ghostly goings-on but they were kept safe by a couple of Ghostbusters who were pounding the pavement.

Danielle Gormley and Caterina Recchia, from Captivating Costumes, spent months creating custom outfits for the opening of the new Ghostbusters film at Odeon Worcester in Foregate Street.

The couple wowed cinema-goers and were stopped in the street by shoppers for pictures.

Miss Gormley said: "The day was brilliant.

"All of the cinema-goers were really excited about meeting the local Ghostbusters and loads of people wanted photos taken with us.

"We were escorting people into the screening of the movie, and investigating the room for ghostly activity, much to the delight of the guests.

"We also went for a walk through Worcester city centre with James Taundry, who is a member of staff at the cinema.

"People kept stopping us for photos and asking us about the new movie.

"I think we made quite an impression and I'd like to think we inspired a few people to go see it.

"After seeing the movie twice now, I highly suggest people get over to the cinema and give it a watch.

"It's a brilliant movie, and I'm sure it's best suited for the large screen."

James Taundry, cinema host, said: "When there's something strange in the neighbourhood, we knew exactly who to call.

"Dani has been a brilliant friend to the Odeon in the past, providing her own custom props for display so we could delight our guests with more than just the movies they're based on.

"Together with Cat, they came through again as members of new Ghostbusters - Worcester branch of course - and had a ghoulishly fun time with guests, as well as out and about in Worcester itself, searching for things that go bump in the night.

"I too had so much fun trailing them on the quest to spread awareness of the film, and personally as a true Ghostbusters fan I can confirm that this new iteration is genuinely fun and utterly hilarious. It's just great to see two of Worcester's own living up to the film and taking the call."
