A MALVERN family this week got the chance to meet two guide dog puppies named and sponsored in memory of a cherished family member.

Sarah, Andrew, Briony and Jeremy Grout from West Malvern met pups Henley and Marlow and their puppy walkers, Jean Emberlin and Helen Evans in Priory Park this week.

Sarah Grout said: “When my stepfather John Weeks died last year, he left an amazing legacy to Guide Dogs for the Blind. This, along with our own fundraising for the charity, has allowed us to name and sponsor the training of two puppies throughout their formative stages.

"We named the puppies Henley and Marlow as John lived in both towns for many years and loved the River Thames. He was a wonderfully charitable and modest man and would have been quite overwhelmed that his legacy goes on to benefit others in this way.

"Henley and Marlow are already beautifully well-behaved and we receive regular ‘pupdates’ on their incredible training progress from Guide Dogs so that we can see how the legacy is spent.

"We are so thrilled to be involved with Guide Dogs and have become volunteers with the local Malvern and Ledbury fundraising branch which is incredibly active.”
