UPDATE 3.45 pm:
THE line is now open again, and trains are now running on the line between Worcester and Hereford.
A spokesman for Network Rail said: "A signaller at Malvern Wells reported that fishplates, which are steel plates that secure the ends of two rails together, were broken.
"This led to trains to or from Ledbury unable to run on the single line. A Hereford to Birmingham New Street train was also held at a signal whilst this was looked into."
RAIL services between Malvern and Ledbury are currently suspended while urgent track repair work is being carried out.
Disruption is likely to continue until at least 2pm.
London Midland says that due to a problem with the track between Ledbury and Great Malvern trains running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed.
Road transport has been ordered to operate between Hereford and Worcester Foregate Street.
