A CROWD of about 50 babies, toddlers, parents and grandparents enjoyed the latest 'Tiny Tunes' event at St Martin's Church in Worcester.

They were entertained by the Lilliput Duo, comprising violinists Kate Fawcett and Kate Skeet, who played music from Telemann's Gulliver Suite.

Shirley Scott, of the church, said: "The performers took their enraptured audience on a journey across the sea to far-off lands.

"The children were offered small pieces of chiffon material to wave as sails, and the wavy sea was created with a long length of blue fabric."

After the concert, the babies and toddlers were able to have a go on miniature violins which had been loaned by Worcestershire Youth Music, before everyone enjoyed coffee and home-made cake.

Tiny Tunes is a series of classical music concerts staged specially for babies and toddlers. The programme is organised by the Elgar School of Music and St Martin's Church, and takes place on the fourth Monday of every month at 10.30am.

The next in the series takes place at the church, in London Road, on September 26, when clarinettist Marie McNally will perform.
