POLICE have appealed for help tracing the driver responsible for nearly hitting an elderly woman and leaving her pet dog needing an operation.

Joan Dovey's pet dog Ellie was dragged underneath the car on Bilford Road on Monday lunchtime, as reported in the Worcester News earlier this week.

West Mercia Police is now appealing for help trying to trace the driver of the blue car who is described as a woman with her blonde hair tied up.

Officers are also hoping to speak to a kind-hearted man who helped Mrs Dovey and Ellie.

Ellie has suffered a fractured pelvis and needed an operation but is now home from the vets and starting her recovery.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, knows the driver or the man that assisted Mrs Dovey should call 101 and quote 421s 220816 or email ac.snt@westmercia.pnn.police.uk.
