CHARLIE and the Chocolate Factory has been named the most popular Roald Dahl book on the centenary of the author's birth.

Amazon.co.uk has announced the best-selling books in digital and print formats based on customer purchases.

Other popular titles include The BFG and George’s Marvellous Medicine.

Despite publishing his first children’s book over seventy years ago, Roald Dahl’s stories continue to be best sellers on Amazon.co.uk.

Dahl proved his enduring popularity by ranking in the top five best-selling children’s authors on the online store over the last year, looking at sales in print and on the Kindle store.

The sales are a combination of books sold in hard copy, on Kindle devices and the Kindle app, which operates on a variety of mobile software platforms including Android and iOS over the past five years.
