A NEW service celebrating harvest is set to be launched at St Andrew's Church in Droitwich.

The monthly, informal service will include songs, crafts and stories, and is open to anyone from the community to attend.

The first service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, September 25 at the church in St Andrew's Street.

The Reverend Bev Jameson, team vicar at Droitwich Spa, Salwarpe and Hindlip with Martin Hussingtree, said: "Talking to our messy church families, a short, fun, relaxed service where there are things to do, as well as great songs and bible stories, really appealed.

"But its not just for our messy church families it is for anyone of any age who would like an informal, interactive way to celebrate harvest. Come along and join us for a really brilliant time. Enjoy the cake, take away some apples and learn how to make Herbie the hedgehog."

Anne Clark said: "My daughters Ellie and Scarlet love coming to messy church and we are really excited about the new service. We are looking forward to celebrating harvest in a fun way which involves the children and makes them part of what is going on."

Other harvest services will take place at churches around the area on the following Sunday, October 2.

A service will take place at St Augustine Church in Dodderhill at 8am, St Peter's Church in Droitwich at 9.30am, St Andrew's Church in Droitwich at 10.45am and at St Michael's Church in Salwarpe at 10am.
