WORCESTERSHIRE County Museum are inviting people to learn more about historical objects they have.

Experts will be on hand to analyse anything from family heirlooms to artefacts dug up in the garden or historical documents on a public enquiry day on Tuesday September 27.

Following on from a successful public enquiry say at the Commandery in Worcester earlier in the year, this will be the first time that Worcestershire County Museum has held the event.

Deborah Fox, curator of archaeology and natural history, said: "How many times have we come across an object that's been in the family for years, but no one actually knows anything about it?

"Other than a trip to Antiques Roadshow it can be difficult to even know where to start finding out about these things, and that's really why we wanted to provide the opportunity where all the combined knowledge of Museums Worcestershire could be put out there for the public to access.

"We're really excited about what people might bring in for us to look at, and, of course, we always enjoy the opportunity to put our knowledge to the test with a bit of sleuthing!"

Based at Hartlebury Castle, the County Museum has an eclectic collection covering agriculture, transport, toys, and social history.

The public enquiry day will run from 11.30 am to 2.30pm at Worcestershire County Museum at Hartlebury Castle.

It is completely free, although standard admission prices will apply to anyone wishing to visit the museum afterwards.
