THIS was the scene after a caravan was dumped in a stream - and it is still there a week later.

The caravan was dumped inLeigh Sinton a week ago and was still there yesterday, despite being reported to authorities the day it was found.

The caravan was discovered last Friday morning by Adrian Bee, who lives in Worcester but has a workshop at nearby Suckley and walks by Leigh Brook every morning.

It was dumped in the stream where it is crossed by a bridleway near Smith End Green, close to where the brook flows into the River Teme.

Mr Bee said that what appears to have been dumped is the bodywork of the caravan, but not its chassis or wheels.

He said yesterday: "It must have been dumped on Thursday afternoon or evening. It wasn't there on Thursday morning, and it was there on Friday. I phoned up Malvern Hills District Council that same day, and was told to report it by email, which I did. I got back a reply saying it would be dealt with in 48 hours.

"But I walk past it every day, and it's still there. It was there this morning. I can't say that no-one had been out to take a look at it. but it certainly hasn't been removed.

"It needs to be removed, not only due to the uncertainty of contaminants polluting the watercourse, but also it's blocking a public right of way. A week later, it is still there getting slowly smashed into smaller pieces.

"I would have thought it would have been a priority to get a major piece of fly-tipping removed as soon as possible.

"We're all used to seeing fly tipping, but this is much more than an old mattress. Whoever's dumping things, they've really excelled themselves this time."

Fly tipping on public rights of way is the responsibility of Malvern Hills District Council.
