A ST John's garage has been crowned best new business at an awards ceremony in Worcester.
St John's councillor Richard Udall launched the contest, which asked residents to nominate their favourite community business earlier this summer.
Matthew Jeffrey’s car repair, St John's Garage, in Bransford Road, won the best new business award after he received the most nominations.
Mr Jeffrey was given a trophy and a certificate which he intends to display at the garage.
Emma, Mr Jeffrey's wife, said: "Matt is very proud.
"He started off during the recession and worked very hard ever since.
"He sometimes works from 7am in the morning to 11pm at night. All the lads are hardworking too.’’
"I’d like to thank all the customers too, it’s nice to know that the community is growing."
The competition was decided jointly by Councillor Udall alongside his fellow two St John's city councillors, Matthew Lamb and Chris Cawthorne, and the Mayor of Worcester Paul Denham.
