A WOMAN arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail after a body was found at a flat in Tolladine Road, Worcester.

The body of a 48-year-old man was discovered at the property, close to the junction with Middle Hollow Drive, at around 2am on Monday.

A 46-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder and was released on bail yesterday (Monday) evening, until Saturday, October 8.

Police are still at the scene of the incident this morning, (Tuesday) and a postmortem is scheduled to take place later today.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Wall, who is leading the investigation, explained West Mercia Police is currently treating the death as unexplained, rather than murder.

"A thorough investigation is underway and we are working to ascertain the exact circumstances leading up to this individual's death which is currently being treated as unexplained," he said.

“A post mortem has been scheduled later today and we will remain open minded in relation to this investigation.”

The results of the post mortem are not expected to be known today.

A walkway between two blocks of flats was cordoned off by police earlier today, while three forensics vans, two police cars and a van from Warwickshire Police were at the scene.

Matt Hoskins, aged 30, who lives in the neighbouring block of flats, said: "At first it was quite a shock. It took a little while to get over.

"It is not every day you walk out and find the police in the full white suits and a forensics investigation.

"The neighbours from the other side must be quite shaken."

The property involved in the incident is managed by Fortis.

A spokesman for the housing association said it could not comment, as it was an ongoing police investigation.

Anyone who has any information which could assist the investigation is asked to contact police by dialling 101 and quoting the incident reference 39s Monday, October 3.
