A CORONER is preparing to hold a pre-inquest review into the death of a man who died after his narrowboat sank in a Droitwich canal lock.
Allen Green, 49, was aboard his boat at Lock 5 of the Droitwich Junction Canal with his elderly mother when it became engulfed by water in July.
According to an eyewitness, Mr Green is said to have helped his mother and dog to safety before returning aboard and becoming trapped on the sinking boat.
The pre-inquest review into his death will be held at 10am today (Friday) at the Worcestershire Coroner's Court in Stourport.
At the review, it is expected decisions will be made regarding the scope of the inquest, witnesses to be called and evidence to be heard at the final hearing.
The Worcestershire Coroner's Service has scheduled the final hearing for Thursday, November 17, at 2pm, at the court in Stourport.
