NEWSQUEST journalists scooped one win and three Highly Commended awards at the Midlands Media Awards.
Tom Edwards, Political Reporter at the Worcester News, was Highly Commended in the Scoop category.
Catherine Phillips, Social Media Editor at Worcester News, was Highly Commended in the Daily News Reporter of the Year category.
Adam Smith of the Halesowen News won Scoop of the Year after a series of stories exposed bullying at a local council while a Highly Commended also went to the Stourbridge News for its Well of Life campaign that brought drinking water to an Africa village.
Altogether Newsquest was shortlisted for ten awards. Other nominations were:
Worcester News, daily newspaper; Bev Holder, Stourbridge News, and Adam Smith, Halesowen News, both for Weekly Reporter; Matthew Dresch, Worcester News, Newcomer; Geoff Berkeley, Worcester News, Sports Reporter; and Philippa May, Herefordshire Society, Magazine of the Year.
