VICTORIAN entertainment will fill the city's streets this November.

The event will officially open with a procession from The Guildhall to Cornmarket.

This will be followed by a carol service, including performances from the Salvation Army and Worcester Cathedral Voluntary Choir.

The mayor of Worcester, councillor Paul Denham who will open the fayre, said: “The Victorian Fayre is always a highlight in Worcester’s calendar.

"People come from far and wide to enjoy the festive atmosphere and hunt for unique gifts on offer from hundreds of independent stall holders.

“I’m really looking forward to opening the event this year and to welcoming many friends and newcomers to Worcester.”

The opening ceremony will start at 5.20pm and close at 6.00pm.

The event takes place from Thursday November 24 until Sunday November 27.

As part of Worcester's Victorian Christmas Fayre you will be able to experience a Victorian slum in The Shambles, which hosts 'Gin Lane.'

'Gin Lane' is a Victorian alleyway where inhabitants which have been cast from society will be.

On Saturday, a Victorian voodoo procession will spring out of the lane.

Head for The Shambles on Friday from 4.00pm until 9.00pm or Saturday from 3.00pm to 8.00pm to experience 'Gin Lane' to its full.

With interactive performances, sing-songs and surprises, ‘Gin Lane’, will be created by Worcester artistic company Clik Clik Collective.

Performing Victorian walkabout entertainment throughout the weekend will be independent professionals Steve Kaos and Mark Russell, who will roaming around disguised as Victorian festive gentlemen, executing juggling and jokes as they go.

Several local school choirs will be performing at this year’s Christmas Fayre, including Regency High School, St. Clements, Our Lady Queen of Peace, Oldbury Park, Dines Green and Cherry Orchard Primary Schools.

A number of adult groups will also perform, such as the Appleyard Dancers, the Worcester Ukulele Club, the Rock Choir and Worcester Concert Brass among others.
