SENIOR police officers are inviting members of the public to join them for a live webchat aimed at providing an insight into modern-day policing.

Officers from West Mercia Police will be online between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday, November 2, and will answer questions from residents.

The webchat will be hosted by Chief Constable Anthony Bangham, Deputy Chief Constable (DCC) Chris Singer and Assistant Chief Constable Amanda Blakeman.

It forms part of the Protect 2016 campaign - a 10 day event showing the public the work police carry out each day to protect their safety.

DCC Singer, who is leading Protect 2016, said: "Ensuring that the public we serve have opportunities to talk to us and ask us questions is vitally important.

"We regularly engage with our communities and aim to use a range of formats to make us as accessible to you as possible. By hosting this online forum we hope to give those of you who are unable to attend community events, for example, another platform to engage with us and on this occasion you can even do it from the comfort of your own home.

"We'd like to hear from you and I look forward to responding to your questions and speaking to all those who choose to take part."

To get involved visit westmercia.police.uk on the evening, follow the on-screen instructions, submit your name and then begin asking questions. Participants can remain anonymous by using a username.

Anyone who would like to take part but can't make the session can email questions to webchat@westmercia.pnn.police.uk and they will be put to the chiefs. All of the answers will be available on West Mercia's website after the event.
