A POPULAR fireworks display in Worcester promises to be bigger and better this year.

The Friends of Red Hill Primary School will again be organising its annual firework extravaganza at the Midhurst Close school.

This year the charity says it will spend more money on fireworks to ensure a dramatic display which can be enjoyed by visitors from the local community.

There will also be a barbecue, bar and refreshments as well as Bonfire Night favourites toffee apples, popcorn and candy floss.

Visitors will be able to choose from glow sticks and novelty items to raise school funds.

Money raised from the event, due to be held on Friday, November 4, will be plough back into Red Hill Primary School.

Headteacher Spencer Morris said: "We are looking forward to our annual firework display, which is one of the highlights of the Red Hill year.

"This has become more than simply a date on the school calendar, but has now become a major community event.

"With the hard work of The Friends of Red Hill, school staff and the local Guides group, the evening once again promises to be fantastic, raising money that goes directly back to the school to support each and every pupil. "Over the past few years, funds have supported educational visits, an outdoor classroom, sports kits, our Christmas panto and improvements to our school library."

Kerry Ward, a member of the Friends of Red Hill said: "This year the fireworks promise to be bigger and better than last year.

"We have been working closely with Jubilee Fireworks and have agreed to spend more money this year to ensure a bigger display.

"We look forward to seeing lots of people."

Tickets cost £4 for adults and £2.50 for children in advance or £5 for adults and £3.50 for children on the night.

Under fours are free.
