A MUM who set up a music group with just a handful of sessions is celebrating her thriving business still going strong ten years later.

Sarah Smith set up Shake Rattle and Groove in 2006, offering a singing class for children to one group of families and two nurseries.

A decade later and her business now delivers around 18 popular sessions in Worcester every week for families, schools, nurseries and reception classes.

The mum-of-three organised a special sing and dance session with visiting guest, Peppa Pig, to mark the tenth anniversary at her session at St John's Church, in St John's.

She said: "I set up Shake Rattle and Groove music group ten years ago this October.

"I was enthused by the enjoyment of singing and dancing with my own children and wanted to bring creative ideas to others.

"I began with only one family group and two nursery settings in 2006.

"Over the years the groups have grown beyond any of my expectations."

Mrs Smith sings familiar and traditional songs with the children as well as exploring new songs often with themes of animals.

Through the session children engage through music and movement and explore instruments like hand drums, gathering drums, maracas, bells and tambourines.

A selection of visual aids are used like sparkly song sacks, puppets, ribbon wands, silky scarves, pom poms and even a parachute.

Mrs Smith said she still enjoyed delivering her informal sessions to the city's children.

She said: "It still excites me to deliver fun and interactive sessions to children and families."
