FOUR Worcestershire friends are joining forces for a charity challenge where they will be pushing themselves to the limit.

Anne Brown and Lorraine Hunt from Defford, Sue Trevaskis from Cheltenham and Julie Speed from Gloucester, are taking part in the Women v Cancer 450 kilometre challenge between Vietnam and Cambodia, next spring.

The team have called themselves the Pink Pedalers, the name chosen after Mrs Brown was spotted jogging and cycling during training wearing a pink jacket and bright pink trainers.

Mrs Brown said: "We are mature ladies in our nifty 50s and we all have family and friends who have been taken or touched by these terrible diseases.

"My twin sister was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer last year.

"We were not fit, or cyclists, before starting our training regime so it has been a wonderful journey of fun and laughter as we have developed our fitness and fundraising skills."

The team's latest fundraiser, a coffee morning, is being held this Friday, December 9, between 10am and noon at the Gtech showroom at the Shire Business Park in Warndon.

"I approached Gtech because they are a local business - I was blown away by the reception," Mrs Brown said.

"The customer service team are helping by baking cakes.

"Not only are they hosting the coffee morning, they have also donated a fantastic eBike worth £995 for our Christmas raffle."

Raffle tickets will be available to purchase during the coffee morning, with the draw taking place on Monday, December 19.
