A ROYAL Worcester porcelain dinner service given as a wedding present proved just the right inspiration for Georgina Byrne when she entered a poetry competition.
For Georgina had never written a poem before and her creation was judged the winner of the very first poetry challenge staged by the Museum of Royal Worcester.
The competition was launched in October by the Worcestershire Poet Laureate and current Poet in Residence at the museum Suz Winspear.
There were 28 entries for the competition and the local judges of Alan Durham, Charley Barnes, Kieran Davies and Suz Winspear were hard pressed to choose a winner among the many high quality submissions, said museum director Amanda Savage.
The poem relays a very personal story about a Royal Worcester dinner service given to Georgina as a wedding present.
