A SIXTH form student has won cash and a display of her work at a prominent city site for her art work.

Ruby Howes, of Worcester Sixth Form College won a Worcester Society of Artists competition and her work will be displayed at the Worcester City Museum and Art Gallery.

The Private View was held last Friday (December 2) and Ms Howes received congratulations from the mayor of Worcester councillor Paul Denham.

Alice Malone, teacher of art and design said: “Forming links with the Society has given students like Ruby a wonderful opportunity to showcase artistic talent as well as raising the profile and demonstrating the exciting opportunities within A Level art.”

Ms Malone also had a piece of artwork on show at the exhibition.

This is the first year that the Worcester Society of Artists and Worcester Sixth Form College have run the competition.

The society is keen to continue working with the college and aims to support young artists by giving them a platform to exhibit their work and to consider art as a possible career route.
