A WOMAN from Malvern has appeared in court charged with murder.

Wendy Marklew whose last known address was Geraldine Court in Malvern appeared before his honour judge Robert Juckes QC at Worcester Crown Court yesterday (Friday).

The 50-year-old was charged with murder on Thursday.

She nodded when asked to confirm her name by the clerk of the court when she appeared in the dock of court one, flanked by two female dock officers. Marklew who wore a dark coat wept at one point and put her hands over her eyes.

She stands accused of murdering 43-year-old David Simon McTighe who was found dead at his Redditch home on Monday, June 13.

The case was prosecuted by Charles Hamer while Marklew was represented at the hearing by Michael Aspinall.

Judge Juckes said he would like to see a layer's summary at the next hearing so the defendant could be arraigned at a plea and trial preparation hearing.

No application for bail was made and the defendant was remanded in custody until the next hearing.

Judge Juckes said: "I will remand you in custody for a bail application to be made on your behalf on the next occasion. I don't want to raise your hopes about such an application."

The case was adjourned until Friday at Worcester Crown Court.
