A 26-YEAR-OLD tourist crashed and flipped a rental car in a busy road.

The Canadian driver hired the car this morning (January 3) and was planning to visit the English countryside.

A fire crew and two police cars were sent to the scene after the car crashed at around 8.40am.

An eyewitness saw the car smash into a parked vehicle, in St John's, Worcester, and then flip over in the road.

The police carried out traffic control at the scene, near to Pasha Indian Cuisine, and reopened the road at 11.03am.

Firefighters put the vehicle back on four wheels and an external company recovered it.  Sarah Lunnon, who lives in Dines Green, Worcester, watched the accident unfold after dropping her children off at school.

The 42-year-old said: "I was driving towards the city and he was coming from it.

"He clipped the red car and then I saw him on two wheels being flipped.

"The driver is Canadian, they are going back to Canada in 10 day's time. It's a hire car, he just picked it up.

"It was black ice, he was not speeding."

The driver said: “We were going to travel to see some of the English countryside.

“I just got it today. Bad luck.”

Police believe the incident was just an accident and are not treating it as a drink driving case.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue say they were told about the crash, which involved two vehicles, at 8.40am.

There were no injuries as a result of the crash and no one was arrested.
