LOVERS of 1980s electronic music might be forgiven for saying OMG! - OMD will headline at the Wychwood Festival this year.

The British synth-pop pioneers, who had a string of hits in the early Eighties, including Enola Gay and Joan of Arc, can be pleasingly non-abbreviated as Orchestra Manoeuvres in the Dark, and their appearance at this year's Wychwood Festival, at Cheltenham Racecourse, marks the start of what organisers are calling "a stellar first wave of acts"to be announced.

A spokesman said: "Fresh from playing a sell-out show in the Royal Albert Hall earlier this year, the experimental electronic music pioneers, OMD, will be demonstrating why they are still as relevant as ever today with their much lauded live show."

The spokesman added: "Running from June 2 to June 4, Wychwood Festival has announced a stellar first wave of acts set to play this year. Folk legends The Levellers will be headlining the Sunday. Joining them will be Kanda Bongo Man, The East Pointers, Thrill Collins and Electric Swing Circus. Katy Ashworth of CBeebies fame will be heading up the kids entertainment, with many more acts and performances to be announced for one of the UK's favourite family festivals."
