PUPILS from across Droitwich joined together to learn about science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

Westacre Middle School, in Droitwich, welcomed in students from six first schools including Chawson, Cutnall Green and Wychbold.

The theme for the day was 'explosions' and Year 4 pupils experimented with Bunsen burners - learning how different chemicals create different coloured flames.

Youngsters then used iPads to create short films about their discoveries, while in the gym they made rocket-propelled cars.

Paul Barber, deputy headteacher at Westacre, said: "Well done to the Year 4 pupils from Cutnall Green, St Peter's, Chawson, Tibberton, Ombersley and Wychbold first schools for their enthusiasm and skill throughout this STEM day.

"It has been great to see these children engaged and learning so much in just one day in these key subjects.

"Well done also to our own Year 7 prefects who helped with the organisation of the day and supported the children who joined us so effectively and confidently."

Staff from Prince Henry's High School, in Evesham, came along to help organise the activities on the day.

Students in Year 5 at Westacre also took part in the day's activities.
