CHILDREN are invited to enjoy a well-loved craft event at a church.

More than 80 youngsters came along to Messy Church, held at St Andrew's Church in Droitwich, last month - and it's hoped February's event will be just as popular.

The theme for this month is Jonah and the Whale and the session will be held on Saturday, February 18, from 10am to noon.

Children will read Jonah the Groaner - a poem about the Biblical story - along with making pancake faces, puppets, storm shakers and boats.

The Reverend Bev Jameson, team vicar Droitwich Spa, Salwarpe and Hindlip with Martin Hussingtree, said: "We had 82 children at our last Messy Church. Adding in all the mums, dads grandparents and other adults there were nearly 200 people at St Andrews, but there were plenty of sandwiches and cake for everyone.

"Jonah the Groaner is a great story and I hope as many people come along as last time."

There will also be songs a short talk about Jonah the Groaner, along with a free lunch of sandwiches and cake.

Messy Church is free and open to children of all ages accompanied by an adult.
