The iconic story line perhaps has more relevance today given the celebrity status at the forefront of the world than it did when Evita first premiered back in 1978.

Set in Beunos Aires during the 1940's we follow the incredible journey of Eva Peron, wife of Juan Peron the former Argentine dictator as Eva does whatever it takes to become one of the wealthiest and powerful people adored by her people.

Everything about this production is superb, a immensely talented cast who gave their all performing at the highest possible level, brilliant sets, wonderful music and lyrics, fabulous costumes.

Emma Hatton originally from Gloucestershire is sensational as Eva, powerful and ruthless as her profile increased, vulnerable and gentle as the politcal landscape and illness impacted on her life dying at the the tender age of 33.

Without exception all of her numbers including Buenos Aires, Goodnight and Thank You, I'd Be Surprisingly Good For You, Don't Cry For Me Argentina, Rainbow High and You Must Love Me were performed to perfection.

Charismatic Gian Marco Schiaretti is outstanding as Che, sneering, narrates us through the journey on his first UK tour he is the glue... this is the third time I have seen Evita on stage and for me by far the best.

Captivating, inspiring, poignant, Evita in the words of Oh What A Circus is 'Oh What A Show' five stars!

Runs until Saturday, 18th February at The Bristol Hippodrome.
