SERVICES will take place across Worcester to celebrate the Women's World Day of Prayer.

Under the theme of 'Am I Being Unfair to You' Worcester will join the rest of the world in saying prayers and conducting services.

This year, the service will be provided by the Christian women of the Philippines, a group of islands situated in the Pacific Ocean and the theme of the service is justice.

Rowena ‘Apol’ Laxamana-Sta.Rosa, the artist for this year's day said: "When I first became involved with WWDP, the thing that caught my imagination was the realization that our services were just a small part of something huge. "I love the thought of those millions of men, women and young people all round the world praying the same prayers, thinking about the same bible passage, linking with the Christian women of whatever country it was who had prepared the service and finally singing ‘The day thou gavest, Lord is ended’. It is that vision that inspires me."

The day takes place on Friday March 3 with The Salvation Army hosting a service at The Trinity beginning at 10.30am.

St John's in Bedwardine church will hold a service at 1.45pm and St Mary the Virgin church in Kempsey will hold a service at 2pm.

Later in the day, Fernhill Heath Baptist Church is having a service at 7pm.

St George's Church in Barbourne and St James' Church in Callow End will both have services at 7.30pm.

The Christian women of the Philippines wrote the service and it has been translated into 1,000 different languages and dialects, to be used, throughout the whole world.
