SLIMMING group members have donated food and toiletry items to charity.

Members of local Slimming World groups donated money to local charity, Caring Hands in the Vale.

The initial idea was arranged by Slimming World consultant Janet Wingert, whose members have donated their excess Christmas items for many years.

She said: "We buy so much and receive so many gifts of toiletries, chocolates, biscuits and other festive foods, more than we can ever use ourselves over the festive period, that it is good to be able to give something back to the community and the people who need it most, rather than it simply going to waste.

"I am completely overwhelmed by the response this year of all of the participating groups."

Caring Hands is a care outreach centre seeking to help relieve poverty in Evesham Vale.

They provide hot meals, food parcels and toiletries, amongst other items to people in financial difficulties, homelessness and low incomes.

Fellow consultant, Emma Stokes, added: "Our members are fantastic and showed great commitment to their weight loss journey, by giving away such lovely and tempting treats, proving their great will power."

The donations will now be distributed by the charity to individuals and families in need of their help.

The donations came from all the Evesham Slimming Groups, including at the Town Hall, Masonic Hall, Bengeworth Academy, Badsey, Middle Littleton, Broadway and Honeybourne.
